HEY I GOT SOME IDEAS FOR YOUR PAGE!!

HEY I GOT SOME IDEAS FOR YOUR PAGE.

LETS SEE - FACEBOOK IS AN AWESOME PLACE AND ON THERE WHEN IT FIRST STARTS IT ASKS YOU FOR YOUR SCHOOL AND YOU SAY WHATEVER SCHOOL AND THEN YOU MAKE A PAGE FILL IN A PROFILE ABOUT LIKE WHAT MUSIC YOU LIKE AND STUFF LIKE THAT.

WHEN YOU MAKE A PROFILE IT CAN ONLY BE SEEN BY PEOPLE WHO GO TO THE SAME HIGH SCHOOL AS YOU. YOU ADD PHOTOS AND LEAVE MESSAGES AND WRITE ON PEOPLES WALLS (PRETTY MUCH LIKE MESSAGES BUT THEY CAN BE SEEN BY EVERYONE THAT GOES TO YOUR HIGH SCHOOL.) YOU CAN MAKE YOUR PAGE MORE PRIVATE BY ONLY LETTING YOUR FRIENDS SEE IT.

ONCE YOU FIND PEOPLE YOU KNOW YOU SEND THEM A FRIEND REQUEST KINDA LIKE ON MYSPACE. KK JUST THOUGHT YOU SHOULD PUT A LINK ON GRAFFITI IT WOULD BE SUPER COOL.

It's Teen Read Week!

Meg Cabot (photo courtesy ALA)

Hey! It’s Teen Read Week here at the library and that’s what we want to see- YOU READING. I know there’s a particularly good episode of Veronica Mars on this week and that the football game is on Friday, but hey. Reading is the perfect activity no matter what you’re doing. Commercial breaks? Read a little bit of a magazine! Don’t want to watch your high school’s band do the halftime show? (Sorry, guys.) Pull the latest Lemony Snicket out of your bag and discuss it amongst your friends. There has never been a better time to catch up on your reading for English class or discover a new author.

Not convinced? Meg Cabot wants you to read. Win a trip to WrestleMania 23 by reading 10 books. Participate in any number of activities at the library this week (that involve reading) and swing by David J’s Place just to hang out (preferably with a book in hand). And if you’re reading this, good job! You’ve succeeded in reading something this week!

Tell us about some of your favorite books and authors! Leave a comment below.

TalentFest 2006

Eight local teens participated in our TalentFest Competition on April 12th. Judging was difficult because all of the participants were very talented. However, Jake Hodge (pictured) was declared the winner for the 2nd time in two years. Megan Siebert was 1st runnerup and Lauren Ortiz was second runnerup. All three winners are gifted guitar players.

Dress Rehearsal will be offered again next February. All fine arts students are welcome to participate and get the extra practice they need for state competitions in 2007.

Dress Rehearsal

Kick-off for the third annual Dress Rehearsal took place on Wednesday night, actor
March 1 in the TSCPL Marvin Auditorium.  The Topeka High forensic team provided an outstanding performance. Ten young adults participated in a variety of public speaking categories. Topics such as Accountability, Flattery, Slang & Hair Loss were covered with poise and humor. Ann Bush from the Topeka Capital Journal was on hand to write an article about these very talented students. Congratulations to Ms. Pam McComas, forensic coach, for her amazing coaching skills. We look forward to enjoying additional performance from Topeka High in the future.
