This fun filled workshop will allow students to explore art using pencils, markers, watercolors and collage. Students will receive instructions and begin four projects. For those who speed, they will cross the Finish Line. Those who drive a little more cautiously will have four
projects they may finish at home.

One Sunday afternoon in February several area teens discussed the book Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. The Pizza Party was one of many opportunities that teens had during the Big Read. The teens attend Topeka High, Topeka West, Seaman High School, Seaman Northern Hill Middle School and Washburn University. They all left asking for more book discussion opportunities. Do

Lucy Hurston niece of the author Zora Neale Hurston met the members of the Sister-to-Sister Club from Eisenhower Middle School. Video Game Company Bungie has announced Halo 3 for the XBOX 360 gaming console. The Master Chief will return in 2007 to finish the fight he started in the mega popular XBOX game Halo 2. Plot details and a new trailer have been released. The graphics, sound effects, and plotline all seem to be what we expect from Bungie, first class! Halo fans can breathe deep and relax knowing the Master Chief will be back for a final thrashing of the Covenant. Prepare your assault rifle and frag grenades for this final installment in the Halo trilogy.
Aisha Williams, a Topeka High senior won a $60.00 gift certificate for her art submission in the Their Eyes Were Watching God book cover contest. Executive Director Gina Millsap made the presentation to Aisha on behalf of the Big Read project. Way to go Aisha!
